Job title: Regional Underwriting Manager
Salary: £100,000 – £120,000

PURPOSE OF ROLE
Lead underwriting excellence and drive sustainable growth. We’re seeking an experienced Underwriting Manager to take a leading role in shaping and delivering our clients regional underwriting strategy. This is an opportunity to oversee a diverse Property & Casualty portfolio and play a key part in driving performance, quality, and innovation within their underwriting teams.
As Underwriting Manager, you’ll lead a team of skilled underwriters and act as a senior figure within the regional market. You’ll manage portfolio performance, ensure underwriting quality, and build strong relationships with brokers and key customers. You’ll also play an active role in national strategic initiatives and projects, helping to shape the future direction of underwriting across the business.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage regional underwriting teams, fostering a culture of high performance, development, and accountability.
- Oversee Property & Casualty portfolios across specialist niches such as Property Owners, Leisure, Education, Care, Charity, Heritage, Faith, and Office Professions.
- Drive profitable growth and retention in line with underwriting strategy and governance.
- Provide senior referral support, delivering innovative and customer-focused solutions.
- Collaborate closely with operational and trading leaders to deliver business objectives and strategic change initiatives.
- Act as the underwriting lead within the region, engaging with brokers and key customers.
- Support regulatory responsibilities, including fair value and consumer duty requirements.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation across underwriting processes.
EXPERIENCE
- ACII qualified or working towards (preferred).
- Proven experience in a senior underwriting leadership role, with a strong record of delivering strategic and commercial outcomes.
- Deep technical knowledge across both Property and Casualty lines.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Commercially astute, analytical, and solutions focused.
