    Job Title – Commercial Account Handler
    Contract – Permanent
    Salary – £28,000
    Location – Ilford, Essex

     


    Job Objectives / Responsibilities

     

    To provide a professional service to an allocated panel of Commercial insurance clients including advising on, and placement of, all suitable commercial insurance products. The service to include new business quotations, renewal negotiation both with client and insurers, daily administration of clients portfolio including claims administration and credit control. Identify and develop cross selling opportunities to existing clients

     

    Responsible for ensuring covers are arranged in accordance with client’s specific demands and needs and requirements within timescales set, adhering to best practice including the maintenance of accurate records, and compliance with FCA regulatory requirements in the conduct of your role.

     

    Joint responsibility with the General Insurance Manager for your own ongoing continued professional development and the company will encourage and support you to attain recognised Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) accreditation through examination. You will also be required to achieve a minimum of 35 hours Continued Professional Development (CPD) during a specified 12 month period.

     

    You will be required to meet set and agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).

     

    As this role will require you to work remotely (in part) from the office you will need to ensure that all data and information relating to your role is kept secure and at all times remain confidential.

     

    At all times ensure the fair treatment of Customers is made the priority and, in respect of all business activities undertaken, that the principles of Treating Customers Fairly are actively considered and acted upon.

     

    Sometimes you may be asked to perform additional duties to assist and ensure the smooth running of the Department / Business. Such requests will not be unreasonable and will be discussed and agreed with you

     


    Knowledge to be obtained within prescribed period – to be agreed upon commencement of role (for definitions see bottom of this document)

     

    • A detailed knowledge of key / main commercial insurance contracts – defined as Combined, Property Owners, Business Interruption, Employers Liability, Public/Products Liability, Money, Goods In Transit, Package Insurance Contracts, Motor Fleet, Commercial Vehicle, Commercial Private Car, Cyber
    • A good understanding of the following commercial insurance contracts – Professional Indemnity, Directors and Officers, Marine Cargo, Credit, Group Personal Accident and Travel
    • A general awareness of all other commercial insurance contracts
    • A detailed knowledge of computer processes and systems
    • A detailed knowledge of the company’s procedures specific to all classes of business handled, and for the relevant credit control, accounting, and complaints procedures
    • A detailed knowledge of the company placement strategy
    • A good understanding of the insurance market
    • A good understanding of FCA compliance
    • A good understanding of General Data Protection Regulations

     


    Skills Required:

     

    • The ability to communicate in a concise, confident and controlled manner with both clients, insurers and colleagues both verbally and in writing
    • Excellent organisational skills including the ability to manage and prioritise workload
    • Ability to construct written communications that are effective and meet business needs
    • Record keeping, with attention to detail.
    • Ability to work on own initiative, without supervision if necessary and work supportively and jointly with colleagues from own and other departments
    • IT skills including good understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel 

     


    Experience Required:

     

    • Ideally a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role.
    • This role requires you to work in the office and remotely as agreed by the Company
