    Job Title – Building Consultancy Surveyor – Remote Working
    Contract – Permanent
    Salary – £60,000
    Location – Remote Locations


    Our clients Surveyors are responsible for the technical and proactive management of project managed repairs, defect diagnosis reports and other similar tasks associated with the businesses Building Consultancy. Our clients Surveyors consolidate existing relationships and develop new ones with the company’s core loss adjusting business – which includes domestic, commercial and rural/agricultural losses of any value – as well as contributing to the various new business opportunities associated with our clients external-facing Building Consultancy business. We are looking for Surveyors with various backgrounds to complement the businesses strategic growth plans.


    Extensive travel – typically within local region but possibly further afield to support surge/specialist work where required

    • Production of surveyor reports of the highest quality, using our clients integrated technology, and issued within tight service level agreements
    • Management of all stakeholders, typically loss adjusters, clients, and contractors, to manage expectation and achieve a high net promoter score
    • Engagement with local adjuster community to consolidate existing relationships, but with a firm view on growing new relationships in order to support growth objectives
    • Positive engagement with clients external-facing Building Consultancy business in order to support growth objectives
    • High productivity ethos and willingness to embrace and exceed targets
    • Client focus – always keeping key stakeholders informed and confident with clients services at all stages
    • Able to work confidentially on own, whilst also playing part in the success of the wider team and business objectives
    • Proactive approach with a view to reducing elapsed settlement time of all work
    • Comfortable working on a large, mixed portfolio of work and able to identify and prioritise key clients at all times

    Broad or specialist building surveying experience preferred – dilapidations, Schedules of Condition, PWA, Commercial practice, RCA and insurance valuations

    • Experience of surveying in the insurance industry is preferred but not essential
    • Knowledge of latest CDM and health and safety legislation is required
    • MRICS Chartered Building Surveyors preferred but not essential; APC Pathway considered via experience route
    • Applicants with MCIOB Chartered Construction Managers with emphasis on building defects and repair specification welcomed
    • Applicants with defects related engineering and project management qualifications – CEng, APM – welcomed
    • Applicants with rural/agricultural experience and/or qualifications actively sought
    • Private practice experience in the wider building surveying discipline is welcomed, in particular those with business development experience

    The proactive and professional project management of reinstatement works referred by the company’s core loss adjusting business. Typically these losses are domestic, commercial or rural/agricultural and range in value from £15,000 up to major losses

    • Project management typically involves producing an accurate specification of repair, issuing tenders, tender analysis reporting, pre-contract management, interim reviews/valuations/recommendations, and final reporting and sign off. All milestones are expected to be completed within tight service level agreements as agreed with clients
    • Ensuring all planning, building regulations, party wall and CDM aspects are correctly adhered to
    • Contract administration – JCT and bespoke contracts
    • Complaint and dispute resolution – either resolving matters on project managed work, or assisting loss adjusters by acting as a technical referral to resolve existing complaints swiftly
    • Defect diagnosis reporting – providing decisive, detailed and prompt reports to loss adjusting providing professional opinion on defect and recommendations to resolve
    • Cost analysis – typically reviewing costs presented by loss adjuster and providing a prompt analysis of scope and accuracy
    • Provide assistance with technical input in to bids and proposals as required based on area of expertise

    Projects confidence, decisiveness and technical competency to clients

    • Proactive – resolving issues immediately and prioritising client requirements
    • Able to adapt style to suit different situations, individuals, clients and teams
    • Complies with values of respect and empowerment
    • Excellent communicator with an eye for identifying and nurturing new business opportunities

    Must take pride in quality and speed of work, always working with the objective of impressing client in order to grow business

    • Excellent verbal engagement as well as written grammar and punctuation in order to produce technical reports of the highest quality
    • Confident and commercially minded with an appetite to engage with clients and develop new business
    • Comfortable with scoping tools, report writing software and 3D mapping tools as well as testing and/or embracing new technology as and when it is available
