    Job title: SME Account Handler

    Salary: £34,000

    Location: Leicestershire


    PURPOSE OF ROLE
    On behalf of our client, we’re looking for an experienced Account Handler to join their SME team. This role is all about supporting a wide mix of business clients, managing insurance portfolios, and delivering tailored solutions. The successful candidate will be central to building strong client  relationships, ensuring retention, and driving service excellence.


    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manage renewals, mid-term changes, claims, and client queries with accuracy and care
    • Provide clear advice on a range of insurance products, making sure clients are fully protected
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients while spotting opportunities for new business
    • Prepare and process policies, renewals, and endorsements, ensuring all documentation is accurate
    • Negotiate with insurers to secure the best terms and premiums
    • Keep records up to date and compliant with company and FCA standards
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues, sharing knowledge and supporting team success

    DAY-TO-DAY

    • A typical day will involve managing a varied client portfolio, handling high volumes of work, and ensuring deadlines are met without compromising accuracy
    • You’ll liaise with insurers, advise clients, and keep all activity in line with compliance requirements, while working closely with your team to deliver seamless service

    EXPERIENCE

    • Proven background in account handling within commercial insurance
    • Strong knowledge of SME/commercial insurance products and markets
    • Confidence using insurance systems (Acturis experience a plus)
    • Solid understanding of FCA regulations and compliance obligations
    • Progress towards CII qualifications (Cert/ACII) is highly desirable

    SKILLS

    • Strong problem-solving ability and sound judgement
    • Great attention to detail and solid organisational skills
    • Confidence negotiating with insurers and advising clients
    • A collaborative approach, with adaptability to meet changing demands
    • A client-first mindset with excellent communication skills
