Job title: Junior Claims Handler – Personal Lines
Salary: Competitive
Location: Norwich
PURPOSE OF ROLE:
At Lawes Group, we are currently working with an established insurance business who are seeking a Junior Claims Handler to join their Claims team in their Norwich office. This role is ideal for someone at an early stage of their career who is looking to build a long-term career in insurance. Full training will be provided, and the successful candidate will be supported in developing the skills required to handle insurance claims effectively and professionally.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the handling of Personal Lines claims from first notification through to settlement
- Communicate with policyholders, insurers, loss adjusters, and third-party suppliers
- Gather and accurately input claims information and documentation
- Provide regular updates to customers and manage expectations throughout the claims process
- Escalate complex queries to senior team members where appropriate
- Ensure all claims are handled in line with company procedures and FCA requirements
DAY-TO-DAY:
- Handling inbound and outbound calls and emails from customers
- Updating claims systems and maintaining accurate records
- Managing Motor, Household, and Travel claims
- Requesting information and documents from customers and third parties
- Supporting senior claims handlers with administrative tasks
- Learning claims processes, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Working to agreed service standards and timescales
EXPERIENCE:
- No prior claims experience required
- Experience in customer service, admin, or office-based roles would be advantageous
- School/college leavers and graduates are encouraged to apply
SKILLS:
- Strong communication skills and a professional telephone manner
- Good attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks
