    Job title: HR Consultant

    Salary: £60,000

    Location: South Yorkshire


    PURPOSE OF ROLE

    On behalf of our client, Lawes is recruiting an experienced and commercially focused HR Consultant to deliver high-quality HR advice and support to a portfolio of SME clients. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative team, offering hybrid working and minimal travel. The successful candidate will provide practical, tailored HR solutions aligned with current legislation and business needs.


    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Act as the primary HR advisor to a group of SME clients
    • Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders across varied industries
    • Provide expert guidance on HR policies, compliance, and employment law
    • Draft and update HR documentation including contracts and handbooks
    • Support and guide on employee relations matters such as performance, grievances, and disciplinary issues
    • Deliver training on core HR topics and adapt content to suit client needs
    • Contribute to projects such as compliance audits, engagement surveys, and settlement agreements

    DAY-TO-DAY

    • Offer responsive and pragmatic HR advice to clients
    • Review and maintain HR documentation in line with legal updates
    • Prepare and participate in formal employee relations meetings
    • Deliver and support engaging HR training sessions
    • Work collaboratively on client-specific HR projects and initiatives
    • Use Microsoft Office 365 tools to manage client communication and documentation 

    EXPERIENCE

    • CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent combination of qualification and experience)
    • Solid experience in an HR advisory or consultancy role
    • Proven track record in handling complex employee relations matters
    • Experience working with SME clients or within an HR consultancy setting is desirable
    • Background in the insurance sector is advantageous but not essential 

    SKILLS

    • Strong knowledge of current UK employment law and HR best practice
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
    • Ability to balance legal compliance with commercial priorities
    • Confident in delivering training sessions or workshops
    • High proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
    • Professional, organised, and adaptable approach with strong attention to detail
