A growing SME-focused insurer is seeking a New Business Trading Underwriter to join their expanding business. This role combines technical underwriting with new business generation across an existing broker panel and new brokers. Personality, relationship-building, and commercial awareness are key to success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Underwrite SME risks with technical accuracy and commercial awareness
• Develop and grow relationships with existing and new brokers
• Support business growth through effective risk assessment and trading decisions
• Contribute to underwriting strategy and performance improvements
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth new business placement

Requirements:

• Proven underwriting experience within SME/commercial lines
• Strong technical knowledge and ability to assess risk
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
• Commercially minded with a proactive approach
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, expanding business

Location & Working:

• 3 days in the office – London City or Kent
• Hybrid/flexible working options

Salary & Benefits:

• Circa £70,000 depending on experience
