    Job Title – Operational Underwriter
    Contract – Permanent
    Salary – GBP25,000
    Location – Cambridgeshire
    Industry – Insurance, Underwriting, Policy Wordings, Product Development 

    Job Purpose:

    – To support the wider Delegated Authority team in the implementation of the company Delegated Authority framework
    – To provide accurate, reliable & expert knowledge in the design and implementation of product specifications, policy wordings and operational processes
    – To ensure that the company is able to provide a professional, prompt and efficient insurance broking service to clients and insurance providers
    – To provide an effective insurance service to the company business channels

    Key Skills/Competencies & Qualifications:

    – Good numeracy, accuracy and efficiency skills
    – Excellent communication skills
    – Analytical skills
    – Industry knowledge of insurance market principles and practice
    – Knowledge of product lines and delegated schemes (following appropriate training)
    – Spreadsheet skills and good standard of IT literacy

    Main Duties & Responsibilities

    – Design & develop product specifications for new developments in conjunction with the DA team, the IT provider and company business channels
    – Deal with product specification queries from the IT provider, company business channels, and internal staff on insurance products and processes
    – Review and update policy wordings where appropriate and provide guidance to the wider business on policy wording best practice
    – Review and provide guidance to the IT provider and company business channels on operational matters that impact multiple business channels
    – Assist in the production of monthly reports, Management Information and Statistics where required
    – Ensure wherever possible the department works within agreed service standards

    Meeting support:

    – Attend and report on insurer meetings where appropriate
    – Take accurate minutes of insurer meetings when required
    – Maintain and update project plans and project worklogs when required
    – Circulate action points and follow up actions when necessary


    – To assist the wider Delegated Authority team with general support when requested
    – An element of external travel may be required to visit suppliers and insurers for meetings
    – To ensure the companys corporate values are implemented through all business relationships with key stakeholders
    – Suitable business dress is required for external and internal meetings
