    Job Title: Finance Manager

    Salary: $200,000

    Location: Bermuda (Bermuda National)

     


    Purpose of the Job:

     

    Responsible for the financial management and reporting, implementation of appropriate controls and compliance with statutory requirements.  Reporting to the Finance Director, the Finance Manager will support the director and also provide support as required to the organisations Chief Underwriting Officer and the broader Bermuda platform.

     


    Principal Accountabilities:

     

    Governance

    To be a member of the Management Committee responsible for overseeing operations on a day-to-day basis.

     

    Finance Management and Reporting 

    • Responsible for the production and reporting of financial information for the business area that will support its management, planning and performance evaluation
    • Preparation of Management Committee, Audit Committee and Board reports
    • Responsible for the provision and development of MI to the Board and Committees
    • To participate in and have responsibility for elements of the financial controls framework, ensuring necessary reconciliations are performed on a regular basis and that exceptions are identified and addressed.
    • To identify process improvement opportunities in the collation and presentation of Management Information
    • To support ad hoc requests for information on the performance of the business
    • To act as Business Partner to the wider Finance team in London in the ongoing provision of financial information
    • To present financial performance to the Management Committee.

     

    Budgeting

    • Manage the preparation of budgets
    • Managing and coordinating reforecast processes.

     

    Expenses

    • Responsible for expense management

     

    Operational development

    Support development of the organisations platform, to include:

    • Working with the Group, establish effective operations and processes
    • Ensure smooth operation of existing processes, ensuring appropriate controls are in place and operating as required and undertake compliance testing.

     

    Rating agency support

    • Assist the Finance and Operations Director with the preparation of materials for the annual rating review.
    • Assist responding to any rating agency queries.
    • Manage delivery of Supplemental Rating Questionnaires

     

    Regulatory reporting

    • Oversee all statutory reporting of the entity, meeting all requirements and filings, liaising with the Head of Regulatory Reporting
    • Responsible for preparation of the Economic Substance Act Declaration
    • Monitor regulatory developments and requirements and ensure compliance

     

    Audit

    • Manage audit process including queries, timeline and budget.
    • Responsible for the preparation of Financial Statements under IFRS

     

    Compliance

    • Manage delivery of annual compliance testing programme

     

    Operational support

    • Provide support for the preparation and minuting of Board and committee meetings
    • Deputise for the Finance & Operations Director

     


    Education, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

     

    • Graduate
    • Qualified accountant with minimum of 3 years post qualification experience.
    • Preferably with knowledge of IFRS
    • Experience of reinsurance industry
    • Demonstrate high standards of delivery in a timely, cost effective way.
    • Ability to communicate complex concepts to a variety of audiences and influence senior management
    • Able to credibly contribute to discussions at Committee level
    • Strong project management skills
    • Strong financial analysis skills
    • Good computer skills particularly Microsoft Office
    • Strong report writing, analytical and effective problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
