    Job Title – Commercial Account Handler

    Contract – Permanent

    Salary – £30,000 – £35,000

    Location – West Bromwich 

     


    JOB OBJECTIVE:

     

    To work closely with the appointed Commercial Executive to provide a comprehensive Commercial insurance support service to existing and potential new customers.

    Ensure regular dialogue with Underwriters so that relationships are such that the business is always able to meet customers’ insurance requirements at favourable terms.

    Provide technical insurance advice and guidance to customers.

    To always treat clients fairly, to abide by the Principals for Business, and to avoid conflicts of interest

     


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • To work closely with the Commercial Executives, ensuring a high level of liaison with, and understanding of, their requirements to maximise customer satisfaction.
    • Manage own areas of responsibility, processing daily post, and controlling own diary system.
    • Taking instructions from new and existing clients, ensuring all documentation associated with placing, amending or renewing clients’ insurance is completed in a reasonable timescale and is accurate and compliant according to FSA rules and regulations. This includes invoicing and tracking any outstanding payments.
    • Checking thoroughly all documentation before despatch to clients
    • Commit to appropriate and relevant training for to maintain competency in accordance with FSA requirements.
    • Contribute towards the development of a Company image of professionalism, competence and customer satisfaction.
    • Any other duties, as required in accordance with the nature of this position.

     


    KNOWLEDGE:

     

    The job requires a thorough knowledge of:

    • The principles, practices and legalities of all classes of Commercial Insurance.
    • Underwriting and rating factors, and how these are applied in relation to all classes of Commercial insurance.
    • The FSA principals for Business its rules and regulations relating to commercial clients.
    • The Company’s Complaints Procedure.
    • The operation of the Broker Partners IT system, including procedures and authorities

     

    • Insurance principals as they apply to General Insurance, particularly in relation to insurable interest, utmost good faith, indemnity, contribution, average and subrogation.

     

    The job requires knowledge of:

     

    • Relevant sections of the Road Traffic Acts that apply to commercial motor insurance including the Motor Insurance Database.

     

    • Rehabilitation of offenders ac. Disability Discrimination and Race Relations Acts

     

    • The Insurance Act 2016

     

    • The Data Protection Act

     

    • The Proceeds of Crime Act

     

    • The Law of Agency.

     

    • The general functions of all other areas of the Company and how these relate to this role.

     

     


    ENVIRONMENT:

    This job is office based 5 days per week with normal 35 hours and conditions applying in accordance with your contract of employment.
