    Job Title: Account Handler – Retail – New Business Team

    Location: Colchester, Essex

    Full/Part Time: Full Time

    Salary: £33,000

     


    Summary and Purpose

     

    To service the insurance needs and provide quotations for new and prospective customers within the New Business Team, providing quality customer care, ensuring that documents are obtained, processed and despatched promptly and all issues raised by the Client, Prospective Client, Intermediary or Insurer are effectively dealt with.

     

    To support management and colleagues throughout the company, in their endeavours to achieve and surpass targets and provide a first-class service at all times whilst adhering to all FCA principles and the specific requirements of:

    • Treating Customers Fairly
    • Contract Certainty
    • Conflict of Interest

     


    Main Duties

     

    Primary duties/responsibilities of the job:

    • Answer telephone calls promptly and effectively dealing with all enquiries in a professional and efficient manner.
    • Support all team members by answering telephones whilst they are not available and provide any additional support especially for New Business Executives whilst they are out of the office.
    • Assess nature of incoming quotation enquiry referring to Head of Corporate Sales any risk that may require Account Executive involvement. If there is a need for an executive visit, pass on the enquiry professionally and efficiently.

    Scheme enquiries:

    • Acquire all the information necessary to calculate the risk premium using the pre-agreed rating schedule and assess risk suitability for scheme.
    • If the risk is suitable, quote the premium by telephone and confirm in writing (as requested) by e-mail, fax or correspondence.
    • If risk falls outside the Account Handlers authority, refer to Director of Corporate Sales for quotation or guidance.

    Non-Scheme enquiries:

    • Acquire all the necessary information and complete a New Business Presentation.
    • Submit the presentation to Insurers and obtain quotation(s).
    • On receipt of quotation(s), quote the premium by telephone and confirm in writing (as requested) by e-mail, fax or correspondence.
    • Diary all quotations issued and pursue until acceptance/refusal received and then diary to pursue annually.
    • Update new business spreadsheet with full details and progress of quotations given.
    • Process incoming post allocated within 48 hours of receipt.
    • Deal with Client, Prospect, Intermediary and Insurer enquiries within 24 hours of receipt or as otherwise agreed with them.
    • Notify Insurers of changes and of new cover issued in the appropriate manner and within the appropriate time scales.
    • Obtain and submit completed Client documentation to Insurers promptly.
    • Process, check and dispatch policy documentation to Clients.
    • Create new policy computer records for any new risks allocated.
    • Update computer records following changes or amendment to risk details.
    • Issue cover, invoice clients, send proposal(s), pursue completed forms and ensure documents issued.
    • Issue short period extension of cover where appropriate, collect premiums due and fax cover-notes to locations or hire companies.
    • Pursue and secure, new business premiums utilising diary and resolve any outstanding new business debt highlighted through the monthly debtors meeting.
    • Ensure cover is maintained or extended as appropriate by issuing cover notes and taking action prior to expiry of cover or as required.
    • Process Premium Credit applications for new business.
    • Maintain an up to date daily diary system, taking effective steps to conclude outstanding issues.
    • Make cold calls to prospective clients using databases provided from a central source.
    • To work in line with Company best practice and FCA legislation.
    • To ensure and work towards company objectives that will provide towards the delivery of agreed departmental strategy and team goals by adding value to the company overall.

     


    Education / Training / Qualifications

     

    • Cert CII – preferable
    • GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths

     


    Knowledge / Skills / Abilities required

     

    • Confidence when calling prospects
    • Able to use own initiative
    • Ability to work as a team player
    • Practical working knowledge of current FCA regulations
    • Experience of adhering to and maintaining systems and procedures
