    Job Title: Property Claims Handler

    Location: Borehamwood

    Salary: £25,000 – £28,000

    Hybrid working


    As part of the Property claims department, you will be responsible for managing all claims relating to Commercial Property, you would be required to carry out the claims method efficiently and correctly. This will be from first notification to settlement and will also include fraud detection, liaising with loss adjusters when required and settling payments. You will also have to make sure that all schedules and documentation issued comply with FCA regulations and within agreed service standards and in line with policy terms and conditions.


    What you’ll be doing:

    • Manage a portfolio of claims. 
    • Upon notification of a claim, analyse all information including obtaining & analysing supporting documentation, in order to validate and proceed with the claim and accurately record.
    • Negotiate, settle and/or repudiate claims within delegated limits of authority.
    • Refer all claims above delegated authority to underwriters with recommendations and act in accordance with the agreed events and protocols under delegated authority schemes.
    • Monitor the progress of a claim, making sure all relevant parties are kept informed of the progress of claims where appropriate and any issues that may arise.
    • First point of contact and provide guidance/advice to policyholders throughout the life cycle of a claim.
    • Ensure all documentation issued and actions taken fall within FCA regulations and agreed service standards.
    • Answer inbound phone calls, transfer and resolve issues when required.
    • To process existing/new claims within agreed service standards.
    • Maintain professional relationships with loss adjusters, insurers and other relevant legal and claims professionals.

    What they’re looking for: 

    • Experience working in a claims environment.
    • Ability to plan, organise, meet deadlines and prioritise own workload as well as being flexible and adaptable.
    • Experience in the property sector especially the private rented sector, will be advantageous but not essential.
    • Basic understanding of the insurance or financial services industry.
    • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail to make sure that high standards of quality are consistently maintained.
    • Drive and self-determination with the ability to identify problems and implement solutions.
    • Outstanding communication skills – written and verbal.
    • Must have the ability to communicate clearly. Customer service skills and telephone manners need to be professional at all times.
    • An excellent level of written and spoken English and Mathematical skills.
