    Job Title – SME Underwriter

    Contract – Permanent

    Salary – £30,000 – £40,000

    Location – Glasgow

    The role

    • As Commercial Underwriter you’ll help drive and transform the broker portfolios, through responsive, flexible, and collaborative relationships.
    • With a strong balance of technical and trading capability, you’ll be empowered to make decisions, supported by data, insight, and decision support tools on mobile technology to succeed.
    • Youll be focused on developing and delivering profitable growth, across new business within the key markets.
    • Deliver on trading team targets through profitable underwriting of products for SME new business, whilst developing key relationships and credibility with brokers and customers.
    • Youll be proactive, outgoing and confident in dealing with strategic partners, retaining and maximising business through the delivery of exceptional customer service.
    • Underwrite commercial insurance products for SME customers profitably, accurately, consistently using the full range of appetite and tools available.
    • Be an advocate for the company by contributing to meetings with brokers to secure clients, youll be an active and visible coach to executive leaders who are change sponsors.
    • Monitor the overall performance of the book youre responsible for and ensuring remedial action is taken to correct any performance issues.

    The person

    • You should have a minimum of 2 years experience gained within a commercial insurance underwriting environment.
    • Be confident handling various cross class risks including commercial property, motor, motor fleet, motor trade, commercial combined, business interruption, EL, PL, etc.
    • Posses strong communication and negotiation skills.
    • Enjoy building strong client relationships and offering the highest levels of customer service.
    • Willing to study towards CII Diploma status.
